Get Involved
Tri-County Head Start could not exist without family or community involvement and interest in our program. We welcome volunteers from the greater community, partner organizations and professionals, and the families and friends of past and present children in our program.
As a volunteer, you can help in so many fun ways!
- Playground and outside time
- Classroom activities and circle time
- Mealtime or kitchen help
- Read-aloud
- Office help
- Field trips
- Help teachers prepare lessons and activities
- Many other special projects or events
To ensure the safety of our children and staff, all volunteers complete a background check and attend an orientation prior to volunteering.
To learn more about volunteer opportunities, please visit our Contact page to send us a message or call our main office.
Benefits of Volunteering
Family Member Volunteers
Families are the most important participants in the program, they are their child’s first and most important teacher. Volunteering in the classroom or at your center is always appreciated and encouraged.
As a family member, becoming an active volunteer at a center allows you to:
- Connect with other parents and staff
- Be an active participant in your child’s education
- Participate with your center’s Parent Committee to offer ideas or thoughts about the program
- Serve as a Policy Council Representative and be involved in decision making!
Community Volunteers
As a community volunteer, your participation in the program is important:
- Gives you an understanding of what the Head Start program offers.
- Gives the staff an opportunity to know you better and learn from you and you from them.
- Allows you to share your knowledge and expertise with us to help us improve our program.
- Helps support our program fiscally through In-Kind contributions. Your valuable time helps us to reach our In-Kind goal to raise 20% of our costs through contributions like volunteer time.
